What is the procedure for upgrading controls in a project from the trial version to the licensed version once the licensed version has been purchased?

Hi Barry,

The only file that should be updated in your trial project is the Adillis.SmartDBForms.dll binary in the /BIN folder.
The licensed .dll is located at <smartDBforms.NET InstallFolder>\DeveloperBinaries\Adillis.SmartDBForms.dll.

To replace the dll in you web site do the following:

Close Visual Studio. If you have the website opened in Visual Studio, close Visual Studio.This is needed because if Visual Studio is running it caches the old .dll and could revert to the old .dll later.
Update Adillis.SmartDBForms.dll. Replace the <Your Website Root>\Bin\Adillis.SmartDBForms.dll file with <smartDBforms.NET InstallFolder>\DeveloperBinaries\Adillis.SmartDBForms.dll.
If there is a <Your Website Root>\Bin\Adillis.SmartDBForms.dll.refresh file in your Bin folder then you should delete it, because it points to the old .dll file and later Visual Studio could revert back to this old .dll file.

You can distinguish between trial and licensed version of Adillis.SmartDBForms.dll by selecting the Properties menu in Windows Explorer.

The <Your Website Root>\smartDBtemplates folder does not need to be updated, because it is the same in trial and licensed installations.
