March 3, 2007 - Adillis releases next version of smartDBforms.NET

Adillis has released a new version of its innovative ASP.NET framework for creating database entry forms. By utilizing the full power of ASP.NET 2 smartDBforms.NET offers its users advanced Visual Studio 2005 design time support and unbeatable extensibility. By inspecting the database schema smartDBforms.NET is able to create the right user interface for all kinds of database columns – foreign key, number, large text, images, datetime, etc. The standard user interface templates that smartDBforms.NET uses, can be easily redesigned or replaced just by using the Visual Studio HTML Designer.

What’s New

  • ASP.NET AJAX support. Additional demo examples are added.
  • Enhanced designers to prevent duplicate IDs.
  • The MSI installer reworked to support Visual Studio Packages.

smartDBforms.NET Details

The connection with the underlying database is provided by SmartDataSource which auto generates insert, update and delete statements. When reading the data it extracts the Meta information which is used by the SmartDBView and SmartDBControl controls to select the proper user interface template. The template displays the data and allows the user to edit it.

SmartDBControl can be placed wherever you want on the SmartDBView container. SmartDBControl needs only the name of the database field. All other Meta information is provided by the SmartDataSource control. The display or edit user interface is populated at runtime by inspecting this Meta information.
